Job summary

Gilbane Building seeks an experienced MEP Manager to lead execution on a large-scale construction project in Charlotte, NC, with potential to serve as project manager on MEP-heavy builds. The role is primarily site-based with occasional office meetings and Southeast travel.

You will coach MEP staff, establish schedules and quality plans, oversee BIM coordination, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. A strong engineering background with 10–15 years’ experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
• 10–15 years related field experience expected.
• OSHA 30-hour certification required.
• Or equivalent education/experience combo.

Responsibilities

• Approves all MEP and Commissioning schedules.
• Supervises MEP subcontracting strategies and creates scopes of work.
• Negotiates pricing and change orders with contractors/equipment manufacturers.
• Performs MEP constructability reviews of contract documents.
• Oversees MEP coordination process (BIM) and schedule of values.
• Develops a project-specific MEP quality plan and ensures its execution.
• Conducts site inspections for MEP compliance with contract documents.
• Communicates with owner/owner's rep to align expectations and satisfaction.
• Trains direct reports on processes and completes daily tasks.
• Manages workload and performance of direct reports.
• Fosters a positive, inclusive work environment and team engagement.
• Collaborates with business development to align with sales strategies and client deliverables.
