Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an Entry to mid-level Estimator focused on Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and LV systems for projects in New York. This role involves preparing detailed estimates from design documents through construction, coordinating with architects, engineers, and owners.

You will develop bids, analyze contract documents, gather pricing, and support preconstruction with constructability and value analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
• Knowledge of Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage systems.
• Ability to use critical thinking skills for understanding and interpreting contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule to formulate comprehensive cost analysis for ME P systems.
• Ability to collaborate with vendors and trade partners and project team members.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills to deliver presentations with confidence.
• Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications, and adopt quickly to new technology.
• Supervisory experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Communicate mechanical and electrical estimate and scopes of work to Turner staff, architects, engineers, and owners.
• Prepare quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and LV system items incorporated in assigned scope from conceptual design through completed construction documents.
• Analyze existing site conditions and contract documents to determine required scope not already indicated.
• Develop working relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors to solicit accurate and current pricing.
• Develop working relationships with local MEP trade partners to build and maintain list of qualified bidders.
• Perform constructability analysis of project documents and communicate issues to project team.
• Provide first costs analysis and participate in life cycle analysis with Design team.
• Coordinate equipment pricing with suppliers and vendors.
• Develop value analysis for cost-efficient alternatives.
• Act as liaison with engineers, design consultants, trade partners, Turner staff, and owners’ representatives to resolve MEP issues.
