Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Shelton, CT is seeking an experienced Estimator for Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage systems. Prepare detailed estimates from design documents through construction documents, focusing on MEP trades.

You will develop bid plans, coordinate with vendors, perform take-offs, analyze existing conditions, and work with Preconstruction and Operations teams to ensure accurate cost projections and successful bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years estimating Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, or LV systems.
• Knowledge of MEP systems and cost estimation methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to teams.

Responsibilities

• Communicate mechanical and electrical estimate and scopes of work to Turner staff, architects, engineers, and owners.
• Prepare quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for MEP systems.
• Analyze site conditions and contract documents to determine required scope.
• Develop pricing relationships with suppliers and vendors for MEP materials.
• Build and maintain bidders list with MEP trade partners.
• Perform constructability analysis and communicate issues to the project team.
• Provide first costs analysis and lifecycle analysis with Design team.
• Collaborate with Operations to address GC/GR items in the estimate.
• Coordinate equipment pricing with SourceBlue for MEP estimates.
• Develop value analysis for cost-efficient alternatives.
