Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Philadelphia is seeking an entry-level MEP estimator to prepare detailed estimates for Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and LV systems on the Philadelphia Main division projects.

You will analyze drawings and specifications, coordinate with suppliers and trade partners, and participate in bid reviews from conceptual design through construction documents, reporting to Preconstruction/MEP managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field; minimum 3 years estimating experience in Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, LV systems
• Knowledge of Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and LV systems
• Ability to use critical thinking skills to interpret contracts, drawings, specs, scopes and schedule for cost analysis
• Ability to collaborate with vendors and trade partners and project team members
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in MS Office and adapt to new software
• Supervisory experience desired

Responsibilities

• Communicate estimate scopes of work to Turner staff, architects, engineers, and owners
• Prepare quantity take-offs, analyses, estimates and studies for MEP systems from design through construction documents
• Analyze site conditions and contract docs to determine required scope
• Develop relationships with suppliers and vendors for pricing on MEP materials
• Develop relationships with MEP trade partners to build bidder lists
• Perform constructability analysis and communicate issues to project team
• Provide first costs analysis and participate in life cycle analysis with design team
• Coordinate equipment pricing with SourceBlue and teammates for MEP estimates
• Prepare and assemble estimates for different contract types (lump sum, GMP, Cost Plus)
• Participate in estimate reviews with Design team and client
• Participate in hand-off to Operations and transfer knowledge from Preconstruction to Operations
