Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC seeks an experienced MEP Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems on commercial and industrial projects. You will review drawings, gather vendor quotes, and drive bid packages with the estimating team.

This role requires strong reading of drawings, knowledge of MEP systems, and proficiency with Excel and takeoff software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent MEP estimating or construction experience considered.
• Experience estimating mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and/or fire protection for commercial/industrial work.
• Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and technical docs.
• Knowledge of MEP systems, construction methods, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing construction cost estimates.
• Proficiency with Excel and estimating/takeoff software.

Responsibilities

• Review MEP/FP drawings and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
• Prepare detailed estimates for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and related systems.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit pricing from qualified MEP subcontractors, suppliers and vendors.
• Review and level subcontractor proposals to confirm scope coverage and pricing.
• Develop and maintain MEP bid tabs and scope comparisons.
• Identify scope gaps, overlaps, and coordination issues between trades.
• Prepare subcontractor scopes of work and Exhibit B documentation as required.
• Evaluate alternate systems and cost-saving options.
• Coordinate with estimating and preconstruction teams to incorporate MEP pricing into overall estimates.
• Participate in subcontractor interviews and pre-award meetings.
• Support change-order pricing for MEP-related changes.
• Maintain subcontractor/vendor relationships and help expand the bidding network.
• Communicate estimate assumptions, scope, pricing, and subcontractor information to project teams.
