Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking an MEP Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection scopes on construction projects. The role reviews drawings, develops cost estimates, solicits subcontractor pricing, and supports bid packages with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include quantity takeoffs, evaluating proposals, and coordinating with preconstruction and operations to ensure accurate MEP costs and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience estimating MEP scopes for commercial/industrial projects.
• Ability to read drawings, specs, and technical docs.
• Proficiency with Excel and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review MEP/FP drawings and bid documents to determine scope.
• Prepare detailed estimates for MEP scopes including controls.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for labor, material, and subs.
• Solicit pricing from MEP subcontractors and vendors.
• Review subcontractor proposals to confirm scope and pricing.
• Maintain MEP bid tabs and scope comparisons.
• Identify scope gaps and coordination issues between trades.
• Prepare subcontractor scopes of work and Exhibit B docs.
• Evaluate alternates and value-engineering options.
• Coordinate pricing with estimating and preconstruction teams.
• Support change-order pricing for MEP-related changes.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors and expand bidding network.
• Communicate estimate assumptions and pricing to project team.
