Job summary

Baird, Hampton & Brown, Inc. is seeking a temporary Mechanical Intern for this summer. You will learn essential skills from an established team of engineers and gain exposure to HVAC/Plumbing design projects for private and public clients.

You will work with PEs, EITs, graduates, and designers. Enrollment in a mechanical engineering degree (ABET-accredited) and 12–18 hours of related courses are required; experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is a plus.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
• Active enrollment in a mechanical engineering program for the internship this summer.

Responsibilities

• Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, create mechanical drawings, perform design calculations, and code research.
• Plumbing design including domestic water, hot water, sanitary waste & vent, roof drainage, gas, and compressed-air utilities.
• Design constant and variable volume ductwork systems.
• Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and design analyses.
• Balance workload across multiple projects and project types (Commercial, Industrial, K-12, Retail, etc.).
• Provide field reports of the installed conditions and accompany on-site reviews with engineers.
