Job summary

Southland Industries offers an internship program designed to introduce students to design-build, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. A project engineer intern assists design or project managers in coordinating projects, developing skills in design, estimating, and scheduling within the design-build process.

You will support field labor, procurement, document control, and coordination with trades and subcontractors, with opportunities for hands-on experience and potential full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing (or recently completed) degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Willingness to learn design-build processes and scheduling.
• Able to work with field labor and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Assist design manager or project manager in coordinating projects using engineering, labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracted services.
• Support field labor and provide labor feedback.
• Assist in equipment and subcontractor procurement and document control.
• Help with design, trade, and subcontractor coordination.
• Assist in budget analysis, cost and margin projections, and estimating project changes and impacts.
• Support development of project schedules.
