Job summary

Comprehensive Energy Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled VDC Drafter to produce accurate BIM models and construction drawings for mechanical and plumbing systems.

The role combines hands-on modeling with task management from start to finish, coordinating conflicts and delivering complete drawing packages with minimal oversight. Essential duties include BIM drafting in Revit, shop drawings, RFIs/ASIs/COs, and ongoing coordination with project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in BIM/VDC drafting for a mechanical or plumbing contractor.
• Experience with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD for as-builts and details.
• Familiarity with Autodesk/BIM360 for document control and model sharing.
• Experience with fabrication-driven modeling, spooling, and shop workflows.

Responsibilities

• BIM modeling and drafting of mechanical and plumbing systems in Revit.
• Produce shop drawings, spool sheets, layout drawings, and installation details for in-house shop and field use.
• Develop and revise drawings for RFIs, ASIs, bulletins, and change orders; incorporate coordination updates.
• Create and manage families, parameters, view templates, sheets, legends, and annotation standards.
• Support model coordination using Navisworks for clash detection and constructability review.
• Identify conflicts early and resolve via model adjustments or coordination notes.
• Provide dimensioned layouts and install-ready details to support field execution.
• Create prefab or spool packages; organize for shop fabrication workflows.
• Incorporate field feedback; keep models aligned with real installation conditions.
