Job summary

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater New Orleans is seeking a Mentoring Specialist to enroll, match, and support youth and volunteer mentors in accordance with agency policies. You will manage a caseload, ensure child safety, and promote positive youth development through direct service delivery and relationship support.

You will collaborate with school partners and community sites, conduct assessments, facilitate match introductions, and monitor progress to achieve strong mentoring outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or within six months) in social work or a related field.
• Associate degree with two years of relevant work experience may substitute.
• Four years of related work experience in social services is acceptable.
• Strong understanding of child safety and youth development practices.

Responsibilities

• Enroll volunteers and youth, including orientations and trainings.
• Match youth with mentors and support families throughout the process.
• Maintain caseloads and provide ongoing coaching and monitoring.
• Document interactions and outcomes in the agency database.
• Deliver match introductions and facilitate group mentoring as needed.
• Assess training needs and coordinate referrals to community resources.
• Participate in events to support recruitment and fundraising.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with standards.
