Job summary

Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Mexico is seeking a Program Specialist/Community Outreach to interview potential mentors and mentees, coordinate various mentoring formats, and ensure safe, healthy matches. You will coach participants and manage data entry, with regular travel across Espanola and nearby counties.

Responsibilities include recruitment partnerships, school relations, and organizing activities while maintaining program standards and reporting to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Education options include a high school diploma/GED with degree or experience requirements.
• Qualified candidates may hold a bachelor’s degree or an associate degree with related experience.
• Four years of relevant work experience may substitute for degrees per agency policy.

Responsibilities

• Interview potential mentors and mentees to assess strengths, needs, and match preferences.
• Coordinate community-based, site-based, and school-based mentoring programs and matches.
• Coach Bigs and Littles and engage with parents to support safe, healthy relationships.
• Enter data into case management database with accurate narrative notes.
• Assess matches for concerns and intervene toward successful resolutions with supervisor guidance.
• Plan activities for matches and attend agency events; travel within Espanola and surrounding counties.
• Build relationships with private sector, government, and tribal partners to support volunteer recruitment.
• Identify and connect families with community supports as needed.
