Job summary

Ammortal, Inc. seeks a software engineer to join a hybrid team in the Asheville, NC area. You will develop embedded Linux applications interfacing with hardware, with opportunities to touch frontend work and ship software for a wearable chamber product.

You will work closely with a senior engineer, learn the full stack of a hardware product, and expand your skills across Linux, Go/Python/C/C++, and modern frontend tools as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 to 4+ years of professional software experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and willingness to learn others.
• Comfort working in Linux environments and on the command line.
• Experience with version control (Git).
• Basic understanding of software development lifecycle and testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop features and fixes for Chamber software on embedded Linux with guidance from senior engineers.
• Learn and contribute to software that communicates with hardware over serial and bus protocols.
• Write clean, tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Take part in quality assurance to keep Chamber software reliable.
• Help investigate and resolve customer issues, escalating when needed.
• Assist with maintenance of early-gen Chamber software.
• Contribute to frontend work as needed.
• Collaborate with hardware, operations, and customer experience teammates.
