Job summary

Ammortal, Inc. is hiring for a role centered on Linux systems software for the Chamber. You will develop application-level software on embedded Linux, interfacing with hardware over serial and bus protocols, and may touch frontend work for an end-to-end view of a shipping hardware product.

You will work directly with a hiring manager, gaining hands-on experience across the stack, with mentorship and opportunities to deepen embedded Linux and systems programming expertise.

Qualifications

• 1 to 4+ years of professional software experience.
• Comfort with Linux environments and the command line.
• Experience with version control (Git).
• Basic understanding of software development lifecycle and testing practices.
• Exposure to Go or C for systems-level work.
• Any experience with hardware, microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar hobby or coursework projects.
• Familiarity with serial communication or bus protocols (e.g., Modbus, I2C, SPI, RS-485).
• Exposure to Docker or containerized deployments.
• Familiarity with Debian-based Linux systems.
• Exposure to MQTT or other IoT protocols.

Responsibilities

• Develop features for Chamber software on embedded Linux with guidance from senior engineers.
• Learn and contribute to software that communicates with hardware over serial and bus protocols.
• Write clean, tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Take part in quality assurance to help keep Chamber software reliable.
• Help investigate and resolve customer issues, escalating when needed.
• Assist with maintenance of early-gen Chamber software.
• Contribute to frontend work as needed.
• Collaborate with hardware, operations, and customer experience teammates.
