Job summary

Ammortal Inc. is hiring for an embedded Linux and systems software role in the Mars Hill, NC area. You will work on the Chamber software that runs on embedded Linux, interfacing with hardware over serial and bus protocols, with occasional frontend tasks for end-to-end understanding.

The role offers hands-on experience across the product, mentorship from a senior engineer, and the chance to ship software that runs in the field. 2–3 days in the office weekly in a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• 1–4+ years of professional software experience.
• Solid programming foundation in Go, Python, C, C++, JavaScript, or similar.
• Comfort with Linux and command line, version control with Git.
• Understanding of SDLC and testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop features and fixes for embedded Linux Chamber software under guidance.
• Interface with hardware over serial and bus protocols.
• Write clean, tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Contribute to QA to keep software reliable.
• Troubleshoot customer issues and escalate when needed.
• Assist with maintenance of early-gen Chamber software.
• Contribute to frontend work when required.
• Collaborate with hardware, operations, and customer experience teams.
