Job summary

Morgan County Schools seeks a Mentor Teacher for Warm Springs Middle School in Berkeley Springs, WV on an as/if needed basis. Starting immediately, the mentor will support the new teacher through joint planning, weekly observations, and regular meetings.

The position requires WVDE mentor training and a recommendation from the principal with favorable evaluations. A yearly stipend of $600 accompanies the role.

Qualifications

• Must complete the WVDE Mentor Training
• 5 years of successful teaching experience preferred, with master’s degree and same-building placement considered
• Principal recommendation with favorable evaluations
• Positive and supportive attitude toward the school community
• Innovative and willing to try new instructional techniques
• Effective teacher who relates well to students and colleagues
• Complete/participate in TESA Training
• Agree to schedule joint planning periods with the beginning teacher
• Agree to observe the beginning teacher one hour per week (first half) and every two weeks (second half)
• Agree to weekly meetings with the beginning teacher to discuss performance
• Participate in monthly professional support team meetings

Responsibilities

• Reports to the School Building Principal
• Position type: Extra-Curricular On As/If Needed Basis
• Mentor duties include planning with the new teacher and monitoring progress
• Attend monthly professional support team meetings with principal, county staff development member, and mentor teacher
• Mentor will receive a yearly stipend of $600
