Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Mental Health Worker assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) and behavioral coping skills, provides clinical intervention, and helps maintain a safe and clean environment.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Patient Care: Initiates and encourages interactions with patients, assists with personal hygiene, escorts patients to appointments, assists during admissions/discharges, supports treatment procedures, responds to emergencies, and co-leads therapy groups.
  2. Reporting and Recording: Observes and reports patient behavior, maintains observation sheets, participates in team meetings, and manages communication concerning patient care.
  3. Environmental Maintenance: Reports hazards, transports supplies, maintains sanitary conditions, and manages linen distribution.
  4. Medication Access: Accesses medication areas as authorized.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of college, preferably in pre-health science or psychology-related courses, OR
  • Minimum of six (6) years of related experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting.

Must demonstrate CPR techniques during orientation and be able to lift, turn, and restrain patients as needed. Effective communication skills are required.
