Job description

Join to apply for the Community Mental Health Support Worker role at Prairie Mountain Health.

Qualifications
  • Post secondary education in a field related to mental health and addictions.
  • 2 years of experience in a mental health and social services setting.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude for working with individuals with mental health and co-occurring disorders.
  • Successful completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI).
  • Current SafeTALK certification, or willingness to obtain within one year of assuming the position.
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent, and access to a personal vehicle for service within Prairie Mountain Health.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Internet applications.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Respect and promote cultural diversity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform duties regularly.
Position Summary

The Community Mental Health Support Worker (CSW) works under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor, Mental Health Services, providing community-based and assertive outreach services. The CSW applies knowledge related to motivation, community development, and co-occurring mental health and substance use issues, to help clients attain their optimal functioning and prevent further disability, in partnership with clients and their care team.
