Ridgeview Institute Smyrna is seeking a part-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our treatment team in Smyrna, GA. The MHT provides continuous patient care, monitors vital signs, documents changes, and supports the treatment plan under an RN. CPR/First Aid and CPI training are required within 90 days.

The role emphasizes crisis intervention, patient advocacy, and assistance with daily living activities. A valid driver’s license and preferred CNA or related degree support eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.
• Successful completion CPR/First Aid certification and CPI training within 90 days of employment.

Responsabilités

• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe and document changes toward treatment plan goals.
• Communicate changes to the charge nurse.
• Document the treatment plan, nursing interventions, and the patient's response to the intervention.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.
• Act as the patient's advocate and ensure that the patient's rights are upheld.

MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.Duties and responsibilities:Take and record vital signs properly.Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and document any changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.Communicate changes in the patient's condition to the charge nurse.Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient.Document the treatment plan, nursing interventions, and the patient's response to the intervention.Employ appropriate crisis intervention techniques as neededAssist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.Act as the patient's advocate and ensure that the patient's rights are upheld.Note: The essential job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed above.Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred;Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline.Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.Additional Requirements: Successful completion CPR/ First Aid certification and CPI training to within 90 days of employment prior to assisting with restraining procedures.
