Ridgeview Institute - Smyrna is seeking a full-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our treatment team in Smyrna, GA. The role provides continuous patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, across units serving ages from preschool to geriatrics.

The position offers a sign-on bonus for full-time roles and requires CPR/First Aid and CPI certification within 90 days. A valid driver's license is also required. We provide comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; or CNA preferred.
• Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline.
• CPR/First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment.
• CPI training to within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assess and observe patient condition and progress toward treatment goals.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to charge nurse.
• Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team.
• Document treatment plans and patient responses.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.
• Advocate for patients and uphold patient rights.

How will you make a difference? The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics, depending on which unit works. MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs correctly.
• Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and document changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
• Communicate changes in the patient's condition to the charge nurse.
• Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient.
• Document the treatment plan, nursing interventions, and the patient's response to the intervention.
• Employ appropriate crisis intervention techniques as needed
• Assist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.
• Act as the patient's advocate and ensure that the patient's rights are upheld.

Your Experience Matters What We’re Looking For

Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline.

Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and an understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion CPR/ First Aid certification and CPI training to within 90 days of employment prior to assisting with restraining procedures. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Compensation

This is a Full-Time, non-exempt role,(8hours-5days) and the expected compensation range is between $17.00 and $19.00/hour, plus a sign-on bonus of $1,500.00. We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be given to experience and skill level. Join us as our MHT!
