Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Mental Health Specialist (MHS I) to provide direct support to individuals with behavioral and mental health needs in a person-centered setting. You will work with those who may have intellectual or developmental disabilities or other complex medical needs, prioritizing safety and engagement.

The role offers a starting rate of $20.00/hr, with varied schedules and comprehensive benefits including medical, vision, dental, 401(k), PTO, mileage reimbursement, and paid training

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years' experience providing mental or behavioral health services.
• Must be at least 18 years old; some programs require 21+ years.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support with behavioral and mental health needs using person-centered approaches focusing on safety and engagement.
• Follow behavior support plans, treatment plans, crisis-prevention strategies, de-escalation techniques, and manual restraints as trained.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment and assist with daily living activities and community engagement.
• Document services, observations, health concerns, and activities using electronic systems (T-logs, Therap, health tracking).
• Monitor behavioral changes and communicate with supervisors during crises or safety situations.
• Support families, assist with appointments and medication administration tasks as allowed, and follow health plans.
