Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Mental Health team member to provide direct patient care on inpatient and/or outpatient units, participate in treatment planning, and help maintain a safe therapeutic environment. You will contribute to comprehensive care alongside nurses and physicians, with documentation in the electronic medical record and active involvement in group activities.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• American Heart Association CPR certification required on hire or during orientation and every two years thereafter.
• Avade 2 (restraint) training within 30 days of hire.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Medical terminology and computer skills preferred.
• Two years' experience in a health-related field preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly and effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Participates as a member of the Mental Health Team on inpatient and/or outpatient units.
• Provides direct patient care including treatment planning, documenting, and milieu safety activities.
• Maintains patient safety through safety checks and environmental rounds.
• Utilizes de-escalation and calming tools and follows policy for restrained patients.
• Leads or co-leads group activities and supports recreational programming.
• Communicates observations and changes to unit licensed nurses promptly and clearly.
