Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician for the inpatient unit. You will provide direct patient care, contribute to treatment planning, and document progress in the electronic medical record.

You will engage in milieu safety, support group activities, and collaborate with nurses, physicians, and staff to ensure a therapeutic environment. CPR certification and restraint training are required, with preferred health-related experience.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• American Heart Association certification for health care provider CPR required upon hire or during orientation and every two years thereafter.
• Avade 2 (restraint) training completion required within 30 days of hire.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Medical terminology and computer skills preferred.
• Two years' experience in a health-related field preferred.
• Equivalence of education and experience may substitute for requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participates as a member of the mental health team on an inpatient behavioral health unit.
• Provides direct patient care including treatment planning, implementing plans, documentation, and milieu safety assessments.
• Performs activities such as group activities and ensures patient safety through checks and rounds.
• Maintains clear communication with unit licensed nurses regarding observations and changes in patients.
• Documents behavioral data in data sheets and electronic medical records.
• Leads or co-leads group activities and provides orientation and direction when needed.
