Job Description

Title: UA/ Assistant

Department: Activity / Nursing

Reports to: Activity Director / Director of Nursing or designee

Employment Status: Full Time, Part Time, Exempt, Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to perform assigned tasks as delegated by your supervisors. As a Unit Assistant, this person is versed in a wide variety of non-nursing tasks and geared especially to enhance the environment and lives of the residents.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

The following is an outline of the major responsibilities that this position will be responsible for. This is not an all-inclusive list of responsibilities; therefore, other tasks may be required as directed by the supervisor.

• Making beds, assisting with meals, transporting, water pass, organizing and cleaning resident rooms, storage room, and day room, handling soiled linen, linen carts, and non-nursing related tasks as directed.
• Visiting residents, offering social and cognitive stimulation, utilizing activity supplies for a variety of activities during 1:1 time.
• Assist in maintaining resident progress, report changes in behavior, physical and mental condition, and complete documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of the program as written on the Medical Record.
• Organize dining room for service, including setting up, cleaning, and sanitation.
• Follow all facility policies and procedures to ensure sanitary conditions and infection control.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred: Experience in a similar environment.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Skills and Abilities

• Effective communication in English and decision-making abilities.
• Legible reading and writing skills.
• Positive attitude when interacting with the public.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, good mental judgment, and awareness of residents' needs.
• Presentable in proper dress, dependable, cooperative, and able to keep confidentiality.

• Work in all areas of the facility (interior and exterior).
• Interact with personnel and residents.
• Mobility throughout the workday.
• Coping with mental and emotional stress.
• Physical ability to push, pull, and move equipment.
