Job summary

Senior Lifestyle Corporation in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Medication Technician to oversee self-administered medications in Memory Care, perform basic nursing tasks, and support residents’ daily living. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED, 1+ month of senior living experience, and a Medication Technician

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
• 1+ months of experience in senior living
• Senior living experience preferred
• Current Medication Technician certification depending on state regulations
• English proficiency to perform duties and emergency communication
• Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook

Responsibilities

• Supervise self-administered medications in Memory Care per regulations and Senior Lifestyle guidelines
• Count and sign narcotics with authorized personnel before keys
• Order medications and treatments from pharmacy or notify when supply is low
• Notify supervisor when supply is <2 days and not received
• Verify medicine against MAR and notify DHW of discrepancies
• Store medications properly and separate topicals from oral meds
• Date vials/bottles per protocol and monitor shelf life
• Weekly inspections of medications for expired stock
• Compare current MARs to new MARs at changeover and report discrepancies
• Remove discontinued meds from med cart and hand to supervisor
• Provide personal care including bathing, grooming, incontinence care
• Provide nursing care: vitals, temp, BP, weights
• Document in daily log and notify supervisor of concerns
• Answer calls and assist residents
• Clean medicine carts daily and restock
• Weekly deep clean of med carts
• Attend staff training and in-services
• Prepare medical charts for new admissions/readmissions within 48 hours
