Job summary

Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking an Activities Assistant to support memory-care residents during day shifts. The role involves guiding residents in using digital tools, setting up devices, and teaching communication and technology skills to improve daily living.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with preferred additional college coursework. You’ll work within Memory Care, collaborating with a team to develop engaging activity programs and supervise

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or completion of at least two years of college coursework is preferred.
• Knowledge of recreational therapy practices advantageous.
• Tech-savvy with home entertainment devices and common software tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement person-centered programs, fostering engagement and independence.
• Create and manage weekly and monthly activity programs that are engaging and promote independence.
• Evaluate therapeutic programs to reflect residents' backgrounds, participation, abilities, interests, and related skills.
• Provide one-to-one activities for residents who are uncomfortable with group activities.
• Supervise volunteers for in-house activities and community outings.
