Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking an Activities Assistant for the Memory Care unit at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. The role requires guiding residents, coordinating engaging programs, and supporting staff in a collaborative memory care environment.

You will lead person-centered activities, assist residents with daily tech tools, and supervise volunteers to enhance quality of life and independence in a compassionate, team-focused setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associate degree or two years of college coursework preferred.
• Strong empathy and compassion for elderly residents.
• Excellent communication with residents, families, and staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement person-centered programs fostering engagement and independence.
• Familiarity with recreational therapy practices is advantageous.
• Create and manage weekly and monthly activity programs that are engaging and promote independence.
• Evaluate therapeutic programs to reflect residents' backgrounds, participation, and abilities.
• Provide one-to-one activities for residents uncomfortable with group activities.
