Job summary

John Knox Village in Lee's Summit, MO is seeking a Full-Time Day Activity/Recreation Therapist for the MEMORY CARE UNIT in the Village Care Center. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required.

You will plan and conduct activity programs to meet the physical, social, mental and spiritual needs of residents, supporting the village mission and values. Training is required by policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
• Personal trainer/fitness instructor certification preferred.
• Experience with elderly populations preferred.
• Driver’s license required if driving duties; obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Directly delivers the execution of activities and events for residents.
• Develop new programs/services to expand participation.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available for programs.
• Transport residents to activity functions as needed.
• Lead group activities and one-to-one visits.
• Monitor participation and maintain records as requested.
• Use computer tech to show movies or search information for classes.
• Promote a positive, warm, calm atmosphere.
