Job summary

Ymca Of Central Maryland, Inc. is seeking a Membership Director in Baltimore to lead all membership operations, including acquisition, retention, engagement, and satisfaction.

The role supervises staff, drives strategic initiatives, and fosters partnerships with local businesses and community organizations. You will also provide staff leadership for the annual fundraising campaign and ensure high-quality member service in line with association standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Recreation, or related field.
• Minimum five years in sales, customer service, or membership operations.
• Three+ years in a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to train, lead, and develop teams.
• Experience managing corporate outreach initiatives and partnerships.
• Budget management experience preferred ($1.5M+).

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes membership strategies to drive new member acquisition and existing member retention.
• Establishes a strong member-focused culture with relationship-building and empathy-driven communication.
• Trains, supervises, and evaluates membership staff and volunteers; implements training to enhance performance.
• Leads membership team meetings and professional development.
• Coordinates with Program and Marketing Directors to manage registration logistics and promotions.
• Collaborates with center leadership to ensure operational excellence.
• Engages local businesses and community organizations to build partnerships and referrals.
• Represents the Y at community events and leads membership events to boost visibility.
• Oversees membership billing and front desk procedures; collaborates with the Business Office.
• Manages department budget and monitors financial performance.
