Job summary

Ocean State Labs, Providence, RI, is seeking a hands-on Manager of Membership & Growth to drive the full sales cycle from outreach to signed agreement. You will build strong relationships with science startups and ecosystem partners, and champion member success across onboarding and ongoing support.

As a closer with life sciences experience, you will help members access lab facilities, mentorship, and commercialization resources, while representing Portal at industry events in New England.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in sales or business development within life sciences, pharma, med device, or related fields.
• Track record of closing complex, consultative deals.
• Existing network in Rhode Island or New England startup and life sciences ecosystem is advantageous.
• Science degree or bench experience helpful for lab operations discussions.
• Strong communication skills across cold outreach, pitches, and lab tours.

Responsibilities

• Own the full membership sales cycle from prospecting to proposal, tours, negotiation, and close.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of science-driven startups.
• Develop relationships with VCs, accelerators, universities, and ecosystem partners for new members.
• Support member growth by understanding needs, identifying expansions, and ensuring retention.
• Partner with leadership to deliver onboarding and day-to-day member support.
