Job summary

The YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Member Services Representative to build positive relationships with members, participants, volunteers and staff, and to promote membership and programs. You will greet, interview and assist members, process memberships, enrollments and upgrades, and maintain accurate records while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of sales and relationship-building experience preferred
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to learn branch programs and process memberships accurately
• Experience with basic Windows applications is a plus

Responsibilities

• Model the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all member interactions
• Educate members that the YMCA is a nonprofit charitable organization
• Promote membership and programs and advocate for the YMCA
• Monitor facility access; ensure member check-in upon arrival
• Answer incoming calls courteously and route to appropriate staff
• Active listening to understand member goals and assist in achieving them
• Maintain knowledge of branch programs to share information with members
• Greet, interview, and tour prospective members using engagement techniques
• Process membership sales, upgrades/downgrades, and renewals accurately
• Engage in member inquiries and tours to convert to join or ongoing engagement
• Retain members through debt collection and renewal communications
• Process transactions and cash handling per policies
• Process program enrollment transfers and age overrides
• Build positive member relationships and promote participation in campaigns
• Complete end-of-shift procedures and balance transactions
