Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Raritan, NJ invites a first-year engineering student to join the Early Stage Innovation R&D Co-Op in Wound Closure & Healing. The MedTech Surgery team develops smarter, less invasive surgical solutions and mentors you in a hands-on lab setting.

You will craft prototypes, run studies, and participate in VOC labs while collaborating with engineers and suppliers. This 7-month internship is designed for motivated students in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical, or related fields.

Qualifications

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university during the Co-op session.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• You must not have any Summer Internship contract or other employment commitment that could interfere with the contract dates specified for this position.
• Proficiency using SolidWorks CAD to create 3D models is required
• Experience with robotic system development is a plus
• Ability to write, debug, and maintain code at a fundamental level is a plus
• Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is desired.
• A high level of organization and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Be comfortable working independently, as well as on a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills is required.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on laboratory work in an engineering lab.
• Crafting and evaluating prototypes.
• Performing studies and developing test methods and fixtures.
• Attending and participating in voice-of-customer (VOC) labs.
• Collaborating with engineers and outside suppliers to support project related activities.
• Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes.
