Job summary

Transdev North America in Perryton, TX is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across vehicles and equipment. You will help ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity of our fleet at Perryton shop.

The role requires 5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience or equivalent, plus a High School diploma or GED. CDL B with air brake endorsement and ASE certification are preferred; state inspection license may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Class B CDL with air brake endorsement preferred.
  • State inspection license if required; ASE certification preferred.
  • 5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience or equivalent education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and limited repairs on diesel engines and components with moderate supervision.
  • Repair brakes, tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions as needed.
  • Maintain records of maintenance work and parts used; ensure proper work orders.
  • Order repair parts from designated suppliers and manage shop inventory.
  • Conduct preventative and safety inspections at prescribed intervals; assist with road calls as necessary.
  • Adhere to Transdev policies and move vehicles safely between job and work area.

Diesel Technician

Transdev in Perryton, TX is seeking an experienced Technician to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

Compensation
  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $21.00 – Maximum $25.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs with moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance such as replacement of light bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, checking fluid levels, changing fluids and filters and lubricating components.
  • Perform mechanical repairs under moderate supervision including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used. Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately.
  • Maintain parts usage records and order repair parts from designated suppliers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, safety maintenance inspections and annual maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals of time and usage.
  • Remove, replace, and repair engine, transmission and differential assemblies.
  • Diagnose and perform accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair.
  • Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
  • Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval where required.
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.
  • Adhere to Transdev standards, policies and procedures.
  • Move vehicles safely between job and work area.
  • Repair and maintain all shop equipment.
  • Cleans vehicles as requested or required.
  • Other responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred).
  • Class B CDL with air brake endorsement (preferred).
  • State inspection license (if required).
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • Intermediate mechanical aptitude and 5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.
  • Adhere to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain an organized shop and clean work environment.
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
  • Possess adequate mechanic tool inventory to complete all assigned duties and maintain it in a clean and safe manner.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
