Job summary

Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is seeking an Equipment Operator to maintain and operate a variety of municipal vehicles and machinery. The role may require a CDL and safe operation of heavy equipment, with duties including inspection, routine maintenance, and manual labor.

Responsibilities include transporting equipment to job sites, setting up traffic controls, and working in outdoor environments under varied conditions. A high school diploma or GED and relevant training are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (G.E.D.) and one year of proficiency in the use and operation of qualifying equipment.
• Must hold recognized training certification and be able to safely operate one or more pieces of qualifying equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of equipment in construction, maintenance, and repair work to streets, landscaped areas, and/or other related areas.
• Transports equipment and/or materials to designated job site(s).
• Inspects, maintains, and performs basic repairs to equipment.
• Operates a variety of small motorized and/or hand tools to perform manual labor activities.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
• Directs the work zone or other traffic control setup on job sites in accordance with MUTCD standards.
