Job summary

Vincentian Home Personal Care in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Medication Technician in Training. This role starts with base pay of $16.00/hour during training and provides hands-on resident care while completing the Medication Technician exam within 90 days.

After passing, you’ll earn a minimum of $16.50/hour and may advance to full Medication Technician duties. Shifts available include 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, and 11:00pm-7:00am.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous resident care experience or related training preferred.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and patient when working with residents.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition.
  • Commitment to treating residents, families, visitors, and coworkers with kindness, respect, and dignity.
  • Willingness and ability to complete the Medication Technician training and testing requirements within the required timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, shaving, dental hygiene, and nail and hair care.
  • Assist with dining needs and meal-related tasks.
  • Escort residents and assist with internal transportation needs.
  • Complete light housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Conduct resident rounds and room checks.
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ physical, cognitive, or emotional condition to nursing staff.
  • Report environmental safety concerns, incidents, errors, or accidents.
  • Participate in resident-centered activities and programs.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency and disaster situations.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, caregivers, and other members of the care team.
  • Respect and protect resident rights, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate appreciation for the experiences, heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents we serve.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to the Medication Technician in Training program.
  • Complete all required training and work toward successful completion of the Medication Technician exam.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Start your career in resident care and train to become a Medication Technician!

Vincentian is looking for compassionate and dependable individuals to join our team as a Medication Technician in Training. In this role, you’ll provide hands-on resident care while completing training to become a Medication Technician, making $16.00/hr as your base rate during training.

The goal is to successfully complete the Medication Technician exam within 90 days of hire. Once you pass the exam, you’ll transition into the Medication Technician role with a minimum pay rate of $16.50/hour.

If you do not pass the exam within 90 days, you will transition to a Resident Aide role, with pay based on the existing Resident Aide pay range.

What You’ll Do

While training to become a Medication Technician, you’ll provide compassionate, resident-centered care and support our nursing team by:
