Job summary

Vincentian Home Personal Care in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking Resident Aides for full and part time roles. The position offers 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, and 11:00pm-7:00am shifts with evening and overnight differentials and sign‑on bonuses for full time staff.

Duties include assisting with daily living activities, documentation, and ensuring resident dignity and comfort. High school diploma required; prior resident care experience preferred.

• 3+ years previous resident care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities including personal hygiene, dressing, dining and transporting needs.
• Document resident care as required and communicate with residents, family, and staff.
• Promote a resident-centered environment with kindness, respect and dignity.
• Assist with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing and grooming.
• Coordinate internal transportation needs and escort residents.
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to the nurse.
• Perform room checks, rounds, and housekeeping tasks as needed.
• Participate in dining assistance and resident activities.
• Respond appropriately in emergencies or disasters and collaborate with team.

Summary:

The Resident Aide assists residents with daily living activities which may include personal hygiene, dressing, dining and transporting needs. Documents resident care as required. Communicates effectively with residents, family members, and staff. Assists other members of the nursing staff with duties related to the daily needs of the residents according to established standards.

It is the duty of all employees to promote and support a resident centered care environment that ensures the treatment of all residents, family members, visitors, fellow employees and customers with kindness, respect, and dignity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• 4.Assists with personal hygiene including dressing, bathing, shaving, dental hygiene, nail and hair care.
• 5.Performs housekeeping tasks such as laundry, vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning room, bed making, and bed changes.
• 6.Escorts residents and coordinates internal transportation needs.
• 7. Observes/reports changes in residents’ physical and cognitive/emotional status to the nurse.
• 8.Conducts room checks and resident rounds.
• 9. Reports environmental safety hazards, records incidents, errors or accidents.
• 10.Assists in tasks relating to dining.
• 11.Participates in resident-centered activity programs.
• 12.Responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations.
• 13.Works collaboratively with peers and other team members.
• 14.Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
• 15.Recognizes and respects resident rights and maintains and protects resident and coworker confidentiality.
• 16.Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• 1. High school graduate or equivalent required.
• 3. Previous resident care experience or related training preferred.

Employees of a long term care facility work in a resident care environment that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Employees can be expected to be exposed to unpleasant odors and may encounter physically or verbally aggressive residents.

Working conditions include normal indoor temperatures. There may also be times when employees perform duties outdoors. Depending on the season, outdoor temperatures will vary.

Employees may come into contact with residents who have infectious diseases or to resident bodily fluids or blood. In addition, employees may come into contact with hazardous materials and facility equipment.
