Job summary

SpecialtyRx, Inc. in Morton Grove, IL seeks a reliable Medication Receiving Technician to ensure accurate receipt of medications and supplies from vendors. The role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and fast-paced compliance in a long-term care pharmacy setting.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year in pharmacy receiving, familiarity with NDCs, and experience with inventory systems; day shift training is required. Full-time schedule with weekday hours and some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Illinois Pharmacy Technician registration/certification required as applicable under state regulations.
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy or inventory receiving experience; LTC or retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, NDCs, and receiving documentation.
• Comfortable using pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Receive and verify all incoming medication shipments, including prescription drugs, OTCs, refrigerated medications, and controlled substances.
• Match purchase orders with invoices and packing slips, ensuring accuracy in quantities and NDCs.
• Inspect all packages for damage, expiration dates, and compliance with storage requirements, including refrigeration.
• Accurately enter received items into the pharmacy inventory system, such as FrameworkLTC and SureCost.
• Label and shelve medications in appropriate storage areas according to pharmacy layout and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in rotating stock and removing short-dated or expired inventory as part of quality assurance protocols.
• Handle controlled substances in compliance with DEA requirements, Illinois pharmacy regulations, and internal protocols.
• Communicate discrepancies or damaged shipments to the Inventory Lead or Purchasing Department immediately.
• Collaborate with the packaging, fulfillment, and order entry teams to ensure continuous workflow support.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving and inventory areas.
• Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory audits as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
