SpecialtyRx in Morton Grove, IL is seeking a Detail‑oriented Medication Receiving Technician to ensure accurate receipt of medications and supplies from vendors. This role thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment and requires strong organizational and communication skills.

You will verify shipments, enter items into FrameworkLTC and SureCost, label and shelve products, rotate stock, and assist in audits and cycle counts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Illinois Pharmacy Technician registration per state regulations.
• Minimum 1 year pharmacy or inventory receiving experience.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, NDCs, and receiving documentation.
• Comfortable using pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Receive and verify all incoming medication shipments.
• Match purchase orders with invoices and packing slips, ensuring accuracy in quantities and NDCs.
• Inspect packages for damage, expiration dates, and storage with refrigeration requirements.
• Enter received items into inventory system (FrameworkLTC, SureCost).
• Label and shelve medications per storage guidelines.
• Rotate stock and remove short-dated or expired inventory for QA.
• Handle controlled substances per DEA and state regulations.
• Communicate discrepancies or damaged shipments to Inventory Lead or Purchasing.
• Coordinate with packaging, fulfillment, and order entry teams to maintain workflow.
• Maintain cleanliness of receiving and inventory areas.
• Participate in cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position: Medication Receiving Technician.

Location: Morton Grove, IL.

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM or 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM, and every 3rd Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Medication Receiving Technician to join our Long-Term Care Pharmacy team in Morton Grove, Illinois. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely receipt of medications and supplies from vendors. The ideal candidate has a strong focus on accuracy, is organized, and can work effectively in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and verify all incoming medication shipments, including prescription drugs, OTCs, refrigerated medications, and controlled substances.
• Match purchase orders with invoices and packing slips, ensuring accuracy in quantities and NDCs.
• Inspect all packages for damage, expiration dates, and compliance with storage requirements, including refrigeration.
• Accurately enter received items into the pharmacy inventory system, such as FrameworkLTC and SureCost.
• Label and shelve medications in appropriate storage areas according to pharmacy layout and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in rotating stock and removing short-dated or expired inventory as part of quality assurance protocols.
• Handle controlled substances in compliance with DEA requirements, Illinois pharmacy regulations, and internal protocols.
• Communicate discrepancies or damaged shipments to the Inventory Lead or Purchasing Department immediately.
• Collaborate with the packaging, fulfillment, and order entry teams to ensure continuous workflow support.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving and inventory areas.
• Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory audits as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Illinois Pharmacy Technician registration/certification required as applicable under state regulations.
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy or inventory receiving experience; LTC or retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, NDCs, and receiving documentation.
• Comfortable using pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, lift, squat, and reach.
• Must be able to train on day shift.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

• Warehouse and pharmacy environment with exposure to refrigerated areas and various packaging materials.
• Position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching throughout the workday.
