Job summary

CVS Health Corporation is seeking a Senior Manager, Underwriting to lead a Medicare underwriting team across segments. You will drive profitability, deliver accurate, competitive underwriting solutions, and guide strategic direction with coaching and development of professionals.

You will partner with Sales and Account Management, influence growth strategy, and ensure high-quality customer outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of medical underwriting experience, including Medicare or group health products.
• Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or developing underwriting professionals.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, pricing methodologies.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of underwriting professionals to achieve objectives.
• Manage workload distribution and ensure timely, accurate underwriting results.
• Identify staffing and development opportunities to build a high-performing team.

• Apply underwriting policies and product knowledge to support decisions.
• Approve underwriting exceptions within delegated authority limits.
• Partner with Sales and Account Management to support meetings.
• Collaborate across CVS Health and Aetna to achieve goals.
• Use market intelligence to evaluate risk and maximize profitability.
• Communicate rate development methodologies and underwriting decisions.
• Influence strategy while meeting service level expectations.
• Build cross-functional relationships to drive growth and engagement.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to maximize team performance.
