Job summary

Optum is seeking a Medical Coder to support IPA providers with ICD-10 CM coding education and CMS documentation guidelines to improve health outcomes. The role involves concurrent reviews, chart retrievals, and communicating audit findings to ensure CMS compliance.

You will train clinical documentation skills for complete reporting of diagnoses, build accurate member health profiles, and collaborate with clinics to meet project milestones. Travel up to 50% is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of coding experience in assignment of ICD-10 diagnostic coding.
• Associates degree in related field, or equivalent experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of this role.
• Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA required or within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent reviews and targeted chart or HEDIS retrievals in provider offices.
• Communicate coding audit findings and CMS guidelines to providers to ensure compliance.
• Develop and implement analysis for quality measures required for member care and outcomes.
• Maintain relationships with clinic partners and support staff to achieve project goals.
