Job summary

Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a Medical Coder in Las Vegas, NV to support Medicare Advantage risk adjustment coding education and provider documentation improvements. You will train clinical documentation skills for accurate reporting of diagnoses and patient health profiles, coordinating with IPA providers and clinic partners.

Expect a 8-hour shift Mon-Fri 7am-5pm PST with up to 50% travel for chart retrievals.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA or RN/LPN with plan to obtain coding certification within 12 months of hire.
• 1+ year of ICD-10 diagnostic coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Coding and Documentation resource by performing concurrent reviews and targeted chart or HEDIS retrievals in provider offices.
• Communicate coding audit findings and CMS guidelines to ensure compliance.
• Perform coding reviews through Internal System and records retrieval.
• Collaborate with leaders to identify needs and develop solutions.
• Ensure HIPAA confidentiality and maintain accuracy in documentation.
