Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking a Route Service Technician (Box Truck Driver) to service accounts, safely transport waste, and maintain compliance with DOT regulations. You will operate a 26 ft straight truck, follow safety policies, and provide excellent customer service across multiple facilities.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years of customer service, a valid license (CDL-B preferred), MEC, and map/computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two or more years of customer service experience; route management experience is preferred.
• Completion of accredited driving school or one or more years of commercial driving experience required.
• Current driver's license with excellent driving record; CDL Class B is preferred but not required.
• Current Medical Examiner's Certification (MEC) is required.
• Ability to read maps and demonstrate good computer skills.
• Regularly lift 25–50 lbs, occasionally up to 75 lbs.
• Age 25 years or older with driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Plan daily schedules based on customer needs by reviewing manifests and route sheets.
• Prepare and load trucks with necessary supplies for daily service.
• Ensure customer waste is properly packaged and ready for transport.
• Deliver the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts and communicate issues to supervisors.
• Secure waste, supplies, and equipment prior to operating the vehicle on public roads.
• Complete all required paperwork, including DOT Driver Logs if applicable.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance issues promptly.
