Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking a Route Service Technician (Box Truck Driver) to service accounts, operate a 26 ft straight truck, and ensure safe, compliant waste transport. You will follow DOT/state regulations, complete paperwork, and maintain high service levels across multiple locations.

The role offers paid training, uniforms, strong health benefits, tuition reimbursement, and vacation after 90 days in a mission-driven industry.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of customer service experience; route management preferred.
• Completion of accredited driving school or 1+ year of commercial driving experience required.
• CDL Class “B” preferred but not required.
• Current driver’s license with excellent driving record; MEC certification.
• Must read maps and demonstrate good computer skills.
• Regularly lift 25–50 lbs, occasionally up to 75 lbs.
• Age 25 years or older with driving experience.
• Able to work in all weather conditions and dynamic environments.
• Safety toe boots and Bluetooth headset system required.
• Covid vaccine preferred; may require immunizations and credentialing.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and transport waste safely according to all regulations.
• Plan daily schedules using manifests and route sheets.
• Prepare and load trucks with necessary supplies for daily service.
• Ensure waste is properly packaged and ready for transport.
• Deliver high level of customer service to assigned accounts.
• Secure waste, supplies, and equipment prior to operating the vehicle.
• Complete all required paperwork including DOT Driver Logs if applicable.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Adapt to fast-paced and changing work environments while maintaining safety.
