Qualifications

• Minimum 2–4 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 4–6 years with a high school/GED.
• Knowledge of medical underwriting principles or ability to develop proficiency through training.
• Ability to apply underwriting guidelines to make sound, consistent decisions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to explain decisions.

Responsibilities

• Review applications, claims experience, and data to evaluate risk and determine premium rates for new business and renewals.
• Apply established underwriting guidelines and pricing methodologies.
• Collaborate with underwriting, sales, and operations to align case strategy and data quality.
• Prepare complete, accurate documentation of analysis and decisions.
• Maintain familiarity with underwriting tools and cost/drivers to support pricing.
