Job summary

Patient First is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform quality lab analyses, assist in patient care, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and safety, with CPR certification preferred. On-site positions at our centers offer comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional training.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and a high school graduate
• Minimum of 60 semester hours of college with chemistry, biology, and medical lab coursework, or an associate/bachelor’s in chemistry, biology, or clinical/medical lab science
• Or one year of documented technician training in a relevant program
• Or 50-week Military Medical Laboratory Procedures course with related specialty
• Two years of clinical lab testing experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide quality and rapid lab results with knowledge of analyses, procedures, equipment and safety
• Follow lab procedures for specimen collection, handling, processing, reporting, and record keeping of tests
• Adhere to quality control policies and document all QC activities and calibrations
• Order lab, x-ray, and medical supplies in the medical record system under physician orders
• Assist physicians, extenders, and nurses with patient treatment and care and obtain vitals
• Maintain orderly records, respond to requests promptly, and follow corrective action policies when needed
• Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance or reporting and escalate as required
• Keep up with policies and procedures, operate and maintain lab instruments, and ensure cleanliness of areas
