Job summary

Patient First is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to provide quality and rapid lab results while following established procedures for specimen collection, handling and processing. The role supports physicians and nurses, performs venipuncture, maintains instrument calibrations, and participates in daily lab operations.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, related coursework or an associate/bachelor in chemistry/biology/clinical lab science, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent and related coursework in chemistry/biology or an associate/bachelor in chemistry/biology/clinical lab science.
• Two years of clinical lab testing experience is preferred.
• Must be able to perform venipuncture and specimen handling with accuracy.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality and rapid lab results with adherence to procedures and safety.
• Follow procedures for specimen collection, handling, processing, testing, reporting, and records.
• Maintain quality control and calibrations of instruments; document activities.
• Order lab supplies as needed from the medical record system.
• Assist Physicians and Nurses with patient care including vital signs and triage.
• Troubleshoot test systems and coordinate with supervisors when issues arise.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab and treatment areas.
• Attend mandatory training and keep up-to-date with policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
