Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness. Reports results per policy.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment; recognizes malfunctions.
• Reviews quality control and quality assurance; takes corrective action when indicated.
• Collects specimens from newborn to adult patients according to protocol.
• Provides training and technical assistance to staff; mentors students and residents.
