Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the Laboratory team in Boston. The role requires performing and evaluating Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology procedures with LIS proficiency and adherence to quality standards.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or Biological Science and ASCP certification or eligibility within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science is required.
• ASCP certification as Generalist or Technologist, or eligible within 12 months of hire.
• 0–1 year of related work experience is expected.

Responsibilities

• Performs and evaluates Blood Bank procedures, including crossmatches, type and screens, unit issuance, antibody panels, DAT workups, donor workups, ISBT labeling, and LIS data entry.
• Performs automated and manual Chemistry procedures and blood gas testing; operates LIS for Chemistry.
• Performs automated and manual Hematology procedures and related instrumentation; includes CBCs with differentials and coagulation studies.
• Performs Microbiology specimen processing, PCR testing, readings, susceptibility testing, Gram stains, and culture handling; maintains LIS usage.
• Maintains organizational quality control and participates in quality assurance activities; communicates results to physicians and staff.
