Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and supervise laboratory tasks in designated areas. The role involves running tests, quality control, reporting results, and maintaining equipment while ensuring safety and compliance with institutional policies.

The candidate should have a six-month laboratory experience or completion of a two-year Medical Lab Technician program/Associate degree and be ASCP eligible.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in a laboratory environment.
• Two year Medical Lab Technician Program/Associates Degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures in assigned areas.
• Assess and report acceptable results.
• Troubleshoot and document problems and out-of-control results to level of capability.
• Notify supervisor of problems.
• Perform and document routine and monthly maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
• Notify supervisor of operational difficulties.
• Maintain inventory sheets in assigned areas and notify coordinator of needs.
• Assist in training students and new employees.
• Operate computer including all routines dealing with patient data and quality control.
• Perform phlebotomies as requested.
• Maintain laboratory work areas in a clean and safe manner.
• Attend laboratory meetings.
• Attend in service education meetings and educational seminars as requested and other duties as needed.
