Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join the ACL Laboratories at Good Samaritan in a full-time role on the 3rd shift (10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.) with rotating weekends and holidays. Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences is required, with MT/MLS or AMT certification to be obtained within 1 year.

No prior experience required, but strong communication skills are essential. Responsibilities include performing and monitoring tests, instrument calibration, QC/QA, and ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences; related field acceptable.
• MT/MLS or AMT certification to be obtained within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Perform, evaluate and monitor laboratory tests per established protocols.
• Calibrate, maintain and repair instruments; document results.
• Ensure proper specimen labeling and testing suitability.
• Provide training and technical assistance to staff and students.
• Support quality control and assurance per CAP requirements.
• Assist in improving lab procedures and turnaround times.
• Support transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry as needed.
• Communicate results to critical care departments accurately and promptly.
• Work rotating weekends/holidays; adhere to policies and safety standards.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences

Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Medical Technology

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
