Job summary

Pride Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to support a client healthcare facility in Needham, MA. The role is a local contract, 3+ months, with a 7:00 am to 3:30 pm schedule and a pay range of $32.00 to $36.00 per hour.

Responsibilities include performing broad clinical lab testing and maintaining instrument performance, with focus on accuracy and compliance. Required: BS in Medical Technology or related field, 1+ year of experience, ASCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemical Science, Physical Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• ASCP Certification for Medical Technologist is strongly preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, bacteriology, morphology, cytology, and histology.
• Operate and monitor laboratory equipment and instruments; ensure accuracy and timely testing.
• Analyze and interpret results in context of patient history and clinical condition; identify abnormal findings.
• Maintain quality and accuracy through QC, calibration, and QA activities.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and troubleshoot instruments; document actions and repairs.
• Enter and verify results in LIS; communicate significant findings and follow all safety and regulatory procedures.

Duties

• Perform clinical laboratory testing: Conduct chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, morphology, cytology, histology, and other laboratory tests to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

• Operate and monitor laboratory equipment: Operate complex analytical instruments and laboratory devices, monitor instrument performance, verify proper functioning, and ensure accurate and timely testing of patient specimens.

• Analyze and interpret results: Review, analyze, and correlate laboratory test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition; identify abnormal or critical findings and take appropriate action according to established procedures.

• Maintain quality and accuracy: Perform quality control studies, calibration, verification, and other quality assurance activities to ensure laboratory results are accurate, reliable, and compliant with established standards.

• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting: Complete routine preventive maintenance on assigned instruments, troubleshoot equipment and testing issues, and document repairs, replacements, calibration, maintenance, and corrective actions in appropriate logs.

• Document and communicate results: Accurately enter and verify test results in the laboratory information system, maintain required records, communicate significant findings appropriately, and follow all laboratory safety, regulatory, and operating procedures.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemical Science, Physical Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Certification(s): Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) - strongly preferred
• Years of experience: 1+ years
